MIDDLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Portland Community Fund Association will be having a coat drive from October 1st – October 21st. Clean useable coats will be collected along with hats, mittens, boots and outerwear. A donations box will be located in the office of the school. Other boxes will be located at City Hall, Local churches, the Senior center, Independent bank, the Edward Jones office and Miller in Motion
A Stuff the Bus will be provided by the Portland Public Schools, Scott Teachout and Joel Vanslambrouck of G &B pool supplies and Ted Goodman of Goodman Dairy Farm to collect coats. The bus will be located near G & B pool supplies on Grand River Avenue.
Applications for the Portland Community Fund Christmas Giving Program will be available at the beginning of October. Applications will be available at the school, Portland City Hall, local churches and Tom’s pharmacy. Any family residing in the Portland School District that may need assistance or anyone who knows of someone who could use extra assistance should fill out an application. The Halloween dance will be Thursday, October 27th from 2:45-4:30. There will be no cell phones allowed. Admission will be $3. Pizza shop pizza, popcorn, candy, and pop will be available at concessions. Change into a costume after school and enter to win a prize! Be sure a ride is ready to pick you up right at 4:30. Please do not wait until after the dance to call. Also, there is a request box in the cafeteria to make song requests.
There will be a student council meeting this Friday in Lab 104. Please check in with teachers
8th Grade Trip
All 8th graders should be returning a signed GO form and $100 deposit or a signed NO GO form to Mr. Baun and Mr. Cornwell on Thursday or Friday morning before school outside of Mr. Cornwell’s room
The next Book Club Meeting will be Wednesday, October 26th during lunches. Please bring back your book to return
Middle School Competitive Cheer
6th through 8th-grade girls who are interested in competitive cheer will meet November 3rd and 4th from 6pm – 8pm in the High School Wrestling room and November 5th from 9 am – 1pm. There will also be a parent meeting on November 4th at 7:40pm.
Lunch recess will be held outside for the rest of the week unless it is raining. Students will be released by Mrs. Davis to go outside. Please do not leave the cafeteria until Mrs. Davis has released you. When you are making your way outside, please remember to exit through the back entrance of the school and make your way around the school to the basketball court area. Students may go down the hill but please do not go on the football field. When Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Click or Mrs. Densmore ask that you come inside please follow directions and quickly make your way inside so that you are not tardy for your next class. Thank you!
Mrs. Davis will also be having a meeting with each lunch on Friday to go over the lunch room policies.
